injured, four inside the hospital. let's go live to wtmj, our affiliate to take a listen. >> no indication as to how he died or how he was -- or if he was killed, if it was self-inflicted or what particularly happened inside the spa. we are now getting information after being concerned about how much -- where the shooter was and this man hunt for him, whether or not he was still inside or was on the loose. but the indication we got from law enforcement is that because of these explosive devices that were left at the scene that they were concerned about, that they were not able to get into a particular area of the spa. so they had not been able to do a complete search of every part of the building. so the indication we're getting now from two sources, again, waiting to get confirmation from law enforcement on this, but the shooter has been found and that he is dead. he is inside the spa. >> charles, have you seen any movement out there in brookfield
2:33 pm
that might support this latest bit of information? does it seem like law enforcement officials out there are standing down a little bit, perhaps feeling like the imminent danger may no longer be there? >> well, the only indication i get from that is i see a lot of vehicles now leaving the parking lot that were here and that were part of the -- all these law enforcement vehicles were here. people on stand by as they waited for this particular scene to develop. i now see way over on the other side law enforcement pulling up yellow tape that was keeping us away from even getting closer to the actual location. so i am getting the sense from people here on the scene that there has been some sort of conclusion, some sort of resolution to this particular area. now, the police chief did tell us he would give us another update right around 6:30, but if there were any new developments,
2:34 pm
he would give us a quick update. so waiting to hear from law enforcement about this confirmation from two sources, melissa mccrady and a person i talked to as well in law enforcement, hearing that the shooter has been found and was found inside the spa, which is where the shooting took place. we know there was the indication that the car that he was in, the car they were looking for was not found in the city of brookfield. so we were trying to put that together as to what that meant. was he no longer in this particular area? we know that there was an extensive search of buildings nearby, inside the brookfield square mall, inside some of the other stores in this particular area. but i am learning that there was one area that they were not able to get into, and now they were able to get to that location, and that's where they found the shooter. so all of this just happening within the last half hour.
2:35 pm
as you can see from these live pictures, more law enforcement walking away from the scene, walking back to their vehicles. not sure if an all clear has been given, but certainly if the shooter has been found, the search is now over. the man hunt would be over. at least in terms of finding this particular person. there will be questions as to, did he act alone, was anybody else involved in this particular situation? but you can clearly see a whole different view here, a sense of standing down, pulling off the yellow tape. law enforcement returning to their vehicles. many of the vehicles leaving here. obviously a new dramatic moment here. susan kim on the scene with me as well. what's the latest you're hearing? >> i was able to talk to a couple of the clients of the gunman's estranged wife who works here. they told me that as soon as two

on the scene today in the city of brookfield comforting those outside the business, this salon where the shooting took place. it was a community response. when things like this happen, the community does band together. these mayors of these small towns have to deal with international press in some instances. there's a large response, a community response. that's what we were seeing today. it's a very tragic situation. as you said, this has happened once again in southeast wisconsin. but again, a little silver lining to the cloud, we're seeing the community really come together with those sikh victims who were so heavily affected by that tragedy coming to the scene and comforting in whatever capacity they could those who were outside worried about possibly their loved ones being inside where this mass shooting happened today. >> nick from wtmj a.m. radio there, thank you so much. you've been so helpful in getting the information out to our viewers here on msnbc so far. joining me now on the phone is clint van zandt, former fbi profiler. he's been with us throughout
